MAHLE Aftermarket Italy – Headquarters of Service Solutions

BRAIN BEE - History of a great company

BRAN BEE SpA was inaugurated in 2001.

Over the following 25 years, it began a significant development of products for diagnostics, A/C maintenance, emissions control, and ATF maintenance.

In 2017, MAHLE took the first step towards acquiring the company.

In 2018, the company changed its name to MAHLE Aftermarket Italia SpA, becoming the beating heart of the aftermarket.

In March 2019, the ceremony for laying the foundation stone took place.

16/06/2020 First official day of the new headquarters!

09/10/2023 Start of the first part of the expansion project, with an increase in production area of over 2000 square metres.

MAHLE AFTERMARKET: THE HEADQUARTERS DRIVING THE MULTINATIONAL COMPANY'S ECOLOGICAL TRANSITION

The headquarters of MAHLE Aftermarket Italy is not only a successful combination of German solidity and rigour with Italian aesthetics and design. The new plant, one of 163 that the large manufacturer of engine components and systems owns worldwide, is a true pilot project, cutting-edge in many respects and above all in terms of sustainability.

The 15,000-square-metre facility, which brings together the group's entire EMEA workshop solutions division under one roof in Parma, develops, manufactures, and sells highly innovative products: these include vehicle diagnostic devices, driver assistance system calibration devices, air conditioning equipment, and solutions for emission control and automatic transmission maintenance, both under the MAHLE brand and the BRAIN BEE brand, following the acquisition of the company in 2018. This new building, completed and ‘populated’ with people and production lines immediately after the lockdown, is one of the few in Italy with an A+++ energy rating and has been designed to achieve carbon neutrality in 2023.

MAHLE AFTERMARKET: THE HEADQUARTERS IN PARMA THAT IS DRIVING THE MULTINATIONAL'S ECOLOGICAL TRANSITION

In addition to already having a photovoltaic system capable of providing the energy needed for offices and production, the site will soon undergo a major expansion—already included in the budget—which will bring the total power to 500 kW. This will not only make the facility completely energy self-sufficient, but also allow it to feed renewable energy into the grid.

The sustainability of the building does not end there: heat pump technology has been adopted for air cooling and heating, while lighting is provided by LED lamps managed by an intelligent sensor system, capable of optimising comfort, brightness and use of space.

‘The project was conceived with a focus on people and their well-being: those who work here and those who come here as customers or suppliers. With an innovative approach for the whole group, this structure was created to encourage communication, sharing and the development of creativity, because here we produce packaging and content, but above all ideas.’

The organisational spaces are designed to facilitate integration between production and offices, stimulate discussion, and support collaboration on specific projects. The work areas are open and shared, enriched by numerous meeting rooms equipped for face-to-face and online meetings, which are essential for daily meetings with colleagues from other MAHLE locations around the world.

At the entrance, immediately after the showroom that tells the story of BRAIN BEE and MAHLE through their most successful automotive products, is the Agorà: an area dedicated to the best Italian hospitality, a distinctive feature of this location and particularly appreciated by both customers and those who work there every day.

‘We have built a corporate climate that works and we are growing at a good pace, with prospects for further development,’ continues Colzi. ‘Production has increased from 3,000 to 10,000 machines per year and we have already decided to proceed with the expansion of the premises to support this growth.’
